        AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation  to  increasing
          weight limits for vehicles powered primarily by electric battery power
          and other fuels

          THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
        BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

     1    Section 1. Section 385 of the vehicle and traffic law  is  amended  by
     2  adding a new subdivision 13-a to read as follows:
     3    13-A.  A  VEHICLE  OR  COMBINATION  OF  VEHICLES OPERATED BY AN ENGINE
     4  FUELED PRIMARILY BY MEANS OF NATURAL GAS, PROPANE GAS,  OR  HYDROGEN  OR
     5  POWERED  PRIMARILY  BY  MEANS  OF  ELECTRIC BATTERY POWER MAY EXCEED THE
     6  WEIGHT LIMITATIONS PROVIDED FOR IN SUBDIVISIONS SEVEN, EIGHT, NINE, TEN,
     7  ELEVEN AND TWELVE OF THIS SECTION BY UP TO TWO THOUSAND POUNDS.  NOTHING
     8  IN  THIS SUBDIVISION SHALL ALLOW A VEHICLE TO EXCEED ANY POSTED CAPACITY
     9  ON A HIGHWAY OR STRUCTURE AS PROVIDED IN SUBDIVISION  FOURTEEN  OF  THIS
    10  SECTION.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
