        AN  ACT  to  direct  the  New York state energy resource and development
          authority to conduct a feasibility study on  installing  solar  panels
          and other renewable energy systems along state highways; and providing
          for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof

          THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
        BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

     1    Section 1. The New York state energy resource and development authori-
     2  ty, in collaboration with the New  York  state  thruway  authority,  the
     3  department  of  transportation,  and the New York power authority, shall
     4  study the viability of installing solar panels and other renewable ener-
     5  gy systems, as such term is defined in section sixty-six-p of the public
     6  service law, along state highways including, but not limited to, the New
     7  York state thruway.
     8    § 2. No later than one year after the effective date of this act,  the
     9  New  York  state  energy resource and development authority shall report
    10  its findings of such study to  the  governor  and  the  legislature,  as
    11  described under section one of this act.
    12    §  3.  This act shall take effect immediately, and shall expire and be
    13  deemed repealed two years after such effective date.
