Honoring Sahana Kristen Passaro upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the New York State Citizenship Award

        HONORING  Sahana Kristen Passaro upon the occasion
        of her designation as  recipient  of  the  New  York
        State Citizenship Award

  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults   of   today,  and  leaders  of  tomorrow,  whose  character  and
achievements best exemplify the ideals  and  values  cherished  by  this
great State and Nation; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sahana Kristen Passaro upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the New York State Citizenship Award; she will  be  recognized  at  a
Senior Awards Night event on Thursday, May 28, 2026; and

  WHEREAS,  The  New  York State Citizenship Award recognizes students
who  demonstrate  excellence  in  academics,  community   service,   and
extracurricular involvement; and

  WHEREAS,  Sahana  Passaro,  a  senior  at  Bethpage High School, has
proven herself to be an intelligent and driven student leader; and

  WHEREAS, Academically, Sahana Passaro has been  a  Gold  Honor  Roll
student  every  quarter  of  high  school;  she  is  an  AP Scholar with
Distinction, a National Merit Commended Scholar, and  a  member  of  the
National Honor Society; and

  WHEREAS,  Additionally,  Sahana  Passaro is a member of the National
Science,  Math,  Social  Studies,  English,  Italian,  and  Music  Honor
Societies;  she  has  participated  in  all plotted advanced courses and
carried a weighted GPA over 100 since 7th grade; also, she has earned  a
weighted 4.0 GPA with advanced and AP courses since middle school; and

  WHEREAS,  Sahana  Passaro  has  exhibited  her  leadership skills by
serving as Captain of the Ethics Team; she has demonstrated her  ability
to  lead  and  speak  publicly;  in  all  forms  of  public speaking and
debating, she has proven her capability  of  debating,  presenting,  and
forming arguments; and

  WHEREAS,  Additionally,  Sahana  Passaro  has  participated in drama
classes since September 2022, acting,  singing,  serving  on  the  stage
crew, and utilizing her photography skills for events; and

  WHEREAS,  Highly  active  in  her  community,  Sahana  Passaro  is a
volunteer for school events, such as dances, church events, and the Peer
Up Program at Bethpage High School; she  also  serves  at  AHRC  Nassau,
where  she  works  with  adults  with  disabilities,  and  the  Bethpage
Equestrian Center; and

  WHEREAS, Since September 2013, Sahana Passaro has been a  member  of
Girl  Scouts Troop 3254, obtaining Ambassador Status, the highest in the
organization; with the Girl Scouts, she has  participated  in  community
service and projects which benefit her community; and


  WHEREAS,  Since  September 2022, Sahana Passaro has been a member of
Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD),  fundraising  for  mental
health organizations and utilizing spreadsheets which she has set up and
organized; and

  WHEREAS,  Sahana  Passaro  has participated in IT internship, served
the New York State Senate as an intern, fundraised for Baby Essential of
Long Island, and provided customer service and care of patients  at  St.
Joseph's Hospital; and

  WHEREAS,  Professionally,  Sahana  Passaro  has  worked  in  the  IT
Department at Bethpage Union Free School District, tutored two  students
in  math  and science, provided customer service for the ice rink in the
Town of Oyster Bay, and held several positions at ShopRite in Plainview;
and

  WHEREAS, The impactful leadership and unwavering drive which  Sahana
Passaro  has  continually  displayed  have  earned  her recognition; she
anticipates graduation with Advanced Regents and Honors diplomas; and

  WHEREAS, As Sahana Passaro looks forward to her next chapter, she is
sure to continue fostering her leadership skills, advancing her academic
achievements, and making a meaningful difference in her community; and

  WHEREAS, Poised with a great sense of enthusiasm and  purpose,  this
scholar  now stands honorably with just pride in her accomplishments and
in  eager  anticipation  of   future   challenges,   understanding   and
appreciating  the  caring  counsel and support provided by her teachers,
mentors, and parents; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor  Sahana  Kristen  Passaro  upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the New York State Citizenship Award; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Sahana Kristen Passaro.
