Congratulating Cella McLaughlin upon the occasion of capturing the 2026 NYSPHSAA High School Indoor Track & Field Championship in the 55-meter hurdles race

        CONGRATULATING  Cella McLaughlin upon the occasion
        of capturing the 2026 NYSPHSAA  High  School  Indoor
        Track  &  Field Championship in the 55-meter hurdles
        race

  WHEREAS, Individual and team championships  are  highly  favored  in
high  school  sports;  this  Legislative  Body  commends  rare  athletic
achievements and pays special  recognition  to  those  who  pursue  such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and

  WHEREAS,  Athletic  competition  helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of young athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and

  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Cella
McLaughlin upon the occasion of capturing the 2026 NYSPHSAA High  School
Indoor  Track  &  Field  Championship  in  the  55-meter hurdles race on
Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Ocean Breeze Athletic  Complex  in  Staten
Island, New York; and

  WHEREAS,  To  the  praise  and applause of her excited fans, Corning
High School student Cella McLaughlin  captured  her  third  career,  and
second  consecutive  New  York  State  Championship  with a time of 7.89
seconds; and

  WHEREAS,  Cella  McLaughlin  has  proven  her  athletic  prowess  in
previous years; some of her accomplishments include a state title in the
2025  100-meter  hurdles  race,  in which she also earned the federation
title; in addition to the 2026 55-meter hurdles  race  indoor  win,  she
helped the Hawks to a 6th place finish in the Girls 4x200 relay; and

  WHEREAS,  Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride,
and accomplishment, and Cella McLaughlin has clearly contributed to  the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of her school; now, therefore,
be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Cella McLaughlin upon the occasion of  capturing  the  2026
NYSPHSAA  High  School Indoor Track & Field Championship in the 55-meter
hurdles race; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Cella McLaughlin.
