  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Jacob K. Javits Convention
Center,  one  of the nation's premier convention and exhibition centers;
and

  WHEREAS, Opened in 1986, the Javits Center has served for four
decades as a nexus of innovation and inspiration, spanning six city
blocks on Manhattan's West Side and hosting more than 130 events
annually  across  business, culture, medicine, technology, and the arts;
and

  WHEREAS, The Javits Center was established pursuant to the New York
Convention Center Operating Corporation under the Public Authorities
Law, in recognition that a world-class convention center would generate
business activity, create employment opportunities, increase public
revenue, and promote the orderly redevelopment of Manhattan's West Side;
and

  WHEREAS, Over the course of its history, the Javits Center has
become one of the most active convention centers in the United States,
welcoming more than one million visitors through its campus in 2025
alone and generating more than one billion dollars in economic impact
for New York City; and

  WHEREAS, The Javits Center supports a workforce of more than 3,000
union tradespeople, operations staff, culinary teams, administrators,
and event professionals whose dedication reflects the diversity,
resilience, and energy of the City of New York; and

  WHEREAS, In 2021, the Javits Center completed a major expansion
project designed to increase efficiency, diversify event capacity, and
reduce congestion and emissions through the addition of a
state-of-the-art Truck Marshalling Building capable of accommodating
nearly 200 trucks; and

  WHEREAS, The Javits Center has emerged as a national leader in
sustainability and environmental innovation through initiatives
including its 6.75-acre green roof, which absorbs approximately seven
million gallons of stormwater annually, its installation of more than
2,000 solar panels, and its one-acre rooftop farm, which produced more
than 21,500 pounds of crops in the past year; and

  WHEREAS, The Center's commitment to environmental stewardship has
further transformed the facility into an urban wildlife habitat
supporting more than 79 bird species and multiple rooftop beehives,

demonstrating that economic development and sustainability can advance
hand in hand; and

  WHEREAS, Through its JavitsCares initiative, the Center has
demonstrated an enduring commitment to community engagement by donating
more than 750 tons of food and materials left behind by exhibitors to
organizations serving those in need throughout New York City; and

  WHEREAS, For 40 years, the Javits Center has served not only as a
convention facility, but as a driver of tourism, commerce, labor,
sustainability, and civic pride for the people of the State of New York;
now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
