        RECOGNIZING   December   13,  2026,  as  Dominican
        Gastronomy Day in the State of New York

  WHEREAS, The State of New York is home  to  a  vibrant  and  diverse
population  whose  cultural  traditions enrich the social, economic, and
civic life of the state; and

  WHEREAS, The Dominican community constitutes one of the largest  and
most  dynamic  immigrant  populations  in  New  York State, contributing
significantly to its growth, vitality, and cultural fabric; and

  WHEREAS, Dominican  gastronomy  represents  a  vital  expression  of
cultural  identity,  history,  and  heritage,  reflecting generations of
tradition, resilience, and creativity; and

  WHEREAS, Dominican cuisine has transcended the  cultural  sphere  to
become a driving force for economic development, generating thousands of
jobs  and  strengthening  the  small business ecosystem, particularly in
communities such as Washington Heights and the Bronx; and

  WHEREAS, Dominican-owned restaurants,  food  vendors,  and  culinary
entrepreneurs  play  a  critical  role  in  local  economies,  fostering
community development, tourism, and cross-cultural exchange; and

  WHEREAS,  The  recognition  of  Dominican  gastronomy  provides   an
opportunity  to  celebrate  and  elevate  the contributions of Dominican
chefs, restaurateurs, and food workers across New York State; and

  WHEREAS,  Dominican  Gastronomy  Day  serves  to   promote   greater
awareness and appreciation of the cultural and economic contributions of
the Dominican community; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize December 13, 2026, as Dominican Gastronomy Day in the State of
New York; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That all residents are encouraged to observe this  day  by
recognizing,  celebrating,  and supporting Dominican culinary traditions
and businesses throughout the New York State; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That this observance  serves  to  highlight  the  enduring
legacy  and  ongoing  contributions  of  the  Dominican community to the
prosperity and cultural richness of New York State.
