        COMMEMORATING  the 111th Anniversary of the United
        States Navy Reserve

  WHEREAS, It is the sense of  this  Legislative  Body  to  honor  and
recognize those institutions and individuals whose commitment to service
and  sacrifice strengthen our Nation and protect the freedoms enjoyed by
all Americans; and

  WHEREAS, The United States Navy Reserve proudly celebrated its 111th
Anniversary on Tuesday, March 3, 2026; and

  WHEREAS, The Navy Reserve was established on  March  3,  1915,  when
President  Woodrow  Wilson  signed  legislation  which created a reserve
component of the United States Navy to  ensure  that  the  Nation  could
rapidly  expand  its  maritime  forces  in  times  of  war  or  national
emergency; and

  WHEREAS, For more than a century, the men  and  women  of  the  Navy
Reserve  have served honorably in times of war and peace, standing ready
to defend the United States and uphold freedom across the globe; and

  WHEREAS, Since its founding, Navy Reservists have answered the  call
to serve in every major conflict and contingency, including World War I,
World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm,
the  Global  War  on  Terror,  and  numerous  humanitarian  and disaster
response missions; and

  WHEREAS, Today, more than 50,000 Navy Reservists continue to play  a
critical  role  in  supporting  the  operational readiness of the United
States Navy, bringing specialized  civilian  expertise  and  operational
capability to the fleet while balancing the responsibilities of civilian
careers, family life, and military service; and

  WHEREAS, The Navy Reserve embodies the values of honor, courage, and
commitment,  and its members stand ready at a moment's notice to support
the Navy, Marine Corps, and joint forces around the world; and

  WHEREAS, The Navy Operational Support Center in New York  City  (NRC
New  York  City) is home to dedicated Navy Reserve Sailors who exemplify
these values and proudly continue the tradition of  service  established
more than a century ago; and

  WHEREAS,   These   citizen-sailors   represent  the  best  of  their
communities,  answering  the  call   to   serve   their   Nation   while
strengthening  the  bonds  between  the  Armed  Forces  and the American
people; and

  WHEREAS, It  is  fitting  and  proper  that  this  Legislative  Body
recognize  the extraordinary legacy of service, sacrifice, and readiness
demonstrated by the United States Navy Reserve over the past 111  years;
now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 111th Anniversary of the  United  States  Navy  Reserve,
celebrated on March 3, 2026; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Commanding Officer of Navy Reserve  Center  New  York
City  in recognition of the service and dedication of the Sailors of the
United States Navy Reserve.
