        AN ACT to amend the public health law, in  relation  to  the  reportable
          tick-borne disease of Alpha-gal syndrome

          THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
        BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

     1    Section 1. The public health law is amended by adding  a  new  section
     2  206-c to read as follows:
     3    §  206-C.  SPECIAL  REQUIREMENTS  FOR ALPHA-GAL SYNDROME DIAGNOSIS AND
     4  SURVEILLANCE. 1. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL PROMULGATE RULES AND REGULATIONS
     5  TO ESTABLISH ALPHA-GAL SYNDROME, A SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY  LIFE-THREAT-
     6  ENING  ALLERGIC  CONDITION  TRIGGERED  BY  A  TICK BITE, AS A REPORTABLE
     7  DISEASE OR CONDITION FOR THE PURPOSE OF REQUIRING  HEALTH  CARE  PRACTI-
     8  TIONERS  AND  FACILITIES  TO  REPORT INSTANCES OF DIAGNOSIS OF ALPHA-GAL
     9  SYNDROME.
    10    2. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL  EXPAND  THE  LIST  OF  TICK-BORNE  DISEASES
    11  INCLUDED  WITHIN THE TICK-BORNE DISEASE SURVEILLANCE REPORT SUBMITTED BY
    12  THE DEPARTMENT'S BUREAU  OF  COMMUNICABLE  DISEASE  CONTROL  TO  INCLUDE
    13  ALPHA-GAL SYNDROME.
    14    § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
    15  it shall have become a law.
