        Introduced  by  Sen.  RHOADS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when
          printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation

        AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to  designating  a  Seaford
          pedestrian bridge as the "Abbey Gate Memorial Bridge"

          THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
        BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

     1    Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section  256  to
     2  read as follows:
     3    §  256.  SEAFORD PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE "ABBEY GATE
     4  MEMORIAL BRIDGE". THE SEAFORD PEDESTRIAN  BRIDGE  THAT  SPANS  NEW  YORK
     5  STATE ROUTE 135, FROM BAYBERRY LANE IN THE HAMLET OF SEAFORD TO TWISTING
     6  LANE  IN  THE  HAMLET  OF  WANTAGH  IN  THE TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD, COUNTY OF
     7  NASSAU, SHALL BE DESIGNATED  AND  KNOWN  AS  THE  "ABBEY  GATE  MEMORIAL
     8  BRIDGE".
     9    §  2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
    10  lation and maintenance of adequate signing  as  designated  pursuant  to
    11  section one of this act.
    12    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
