          twice and ordered printed, and when printed to  be  committed  to  the
          Committee on Crime Victims, Crime and Correction

        AN  ACT  to  amend  the  correction  law,  in relation to establishing a
          uniform electronic medical records system for correctional facilities

          THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
        BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

     1    Section  1.  The correction law is amended by adding a new section 144
     2  to read as follows:
     3    § 144. UNIFORM ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS.  1.  THE  COMMISSIONER,  IN
     4  CONSULTATION  WITH  THE  COMMISSIONER  OF HEALTH AND THE COMMISSIONER OF
     5  MENTAL HEALTH, SHALL DEVELOP A UNIFORM ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS SYSTEM
     6  TO BE UTILIZED BY ALL CORRECTIONAL FACILITIES IN THE STATE.
     7    2. THE COMMISSIONER SHALL PROMULGATE RULES AND  REGULATIONS  NECESSARY
     8  FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS SECTION.
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after
    10  it  shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amend-
    11  ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen-
    12  tation of this act on its effective date are authorized to be  made  and
    13  completed on or before such effective date.
