AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of
the state highway system as the "Fort de la Presentation Memorial
Highway"
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1 Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 345-d to
2 read as follows:
3 § 345-D. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE
4 "FORT DE LA PRESENTATION MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". ALL THAT PORTION OF THE
5 STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM CONSTITUTING STATE ROUTE SIXTY-EIGHT BEGINNING AT
6 THE INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE SIXTY-EIGHT AND ALBANY AVENUE, CONTINU-
7 ING IN A GENERALLY NORTHEASTERLY DIRECTION, AND TERMINATING AT THE
8 INTERSECTION OF STATE ROUTE SIXTY-EIGHT AND COMMERCE STREET IN THE CITY
9 OF OGDENSBURG, COUNTY OF ST. LAWRENCE, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS
10 THE "FORT DE LA PRESENTATION MEMORIAL HIGHWAY".
11 § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal-
12 lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system
13 as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid
14 confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig-
15 nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of
16 ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be
17 changed as a result of this act.
18 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
