          printed to be committed to the Committee on Cities 1

        AN ACT to amend the administrative code of the  city  of  New  York,  in
          relation  to  requiring  notification of residents who are potentially
          affected by a serious health threat to their water system

          THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
        BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

     1    Section  1. Section 17-194.1 of the administrative code of the city of
     2  New York is amended by adding a new subdivision n to read as follows:
     3    N. NOTICE REQUIREMENTS. IN ALL CASES WHERE THE RESULTS OF THE INVESTI-
     4  GATION CONDUCTED PURSUANT TO SUBDIVISION E OF THIS  SECTION  INDICATE  A
     5  SERIOUS  HEALTH  THREAT,  THE  DEPARTMENT  SHALL  NOTIFY ALL POTENTIALLY
     6  AFFECTED RESIDENTS WITHIN 24 HOURS,  INCLUDING  ALL  ADJACENT  BUILDINGS
     7  THAT SHARE THE SAME UNDERLYING WATER SYSTEM.
     8    §  2.  This  act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
     9  have become a law.
