AN ACT TO APPROPRIAT E ADDITIONAL FUNDS F OR ALL INCOME -ELIGIBLE, 2
FOUR-YEAR-OLD CHILDR EN TO PARTICIPATE IN THE NORTH CAROLINA 3
PREKINDERGARTEN (NC PRE-K) PROGRAM. 4
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 5
SECTION 1. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of 6
Health and Human Services, Division of Child Development and Early Education, the sum of 7
two hundred million dollars ($200,000,000) in recurring funds beginning in the 2026-2027 fiscal 8
year to provide additional funds for all income -eligible, four-year-old children in this State to 9
participate in the North Carolina Prekindergarten (NC Pre-K) program. 10
SECTION 2. This act becomes effective July 1, 2026. 11
