A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1
AN ACT TO ALLOW FOR THE PLANNING BOARD TO HOLD HEARINGS AND MAKE 2
FINAL DECISIONS FOR ZONING AMENDMENT REQ UESTS IN THE CITY OF 3
WINSTON-SALEM. 4
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 5
SECTION 1. G.S. 160D-602 reads as rewritten: 6
"§ 160D-602. Notice of hearing on proposed zoning map amendments. 7

(f) Delegation. – The governing board may, by ordinance, delegate or assign the 9
authority for the rezoning of property to a designated planning board. The governing board shall 10
provide a right of appeal and review before the governing board in accordance with rules adopted 11
by the governing board. Such authority shall be exercised by the designated planning board under 12
such rules, regulations, and guidelines as may be established by the governing board." 13
SECTION 2. This act applies only to the City of Winston-Salem. 14
SECTION 3. This act is effective when it becomes law. 15
