A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1
AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE USE OF STRATEGIC TRANSPORTATION 2
INVESTMENTS ACT (STI ) FUNDS FOR INDEPEND ENT BICYCLE AND 3
PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS. 4
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 5
SECTION 1. G.S. 136-189.10(2)g. reads as rewritten: 6
"g. Federally Federal and local government funded independent bicycle 7
and pedestrian improvements." 8
SECTION 2. G.S. 136-189.11(d)(3)c. reads as rewritten: 9
"c. Bicycle and pedestrian limitation. – The Department shall not may 10
provide financial s upport for federal and local government funded 11
independent bicycle and pedestrian improvement projects, except for 12
federal funds administered by the Department for that purpose. This 13
sub-subdivision shall not apply to funds allocated to a municipality 14
pursuant to G.S. 136-41.1 that are committed by the municipality as 15
matching funds for federal funds administered by the Department and 16
used for bicycle and pedestrian improvement projects. This limitation 17
shall not apply to funds authorized for projects in th e State 18
Transportation Improvement Program that are scheduled for 19
construction as of October 1, 2013, in State fiscal year 2012 -2013, 20
2013-2014, or 2014-2015.projects." 21
SECTION 3. This act is effective when it becomes law. 22
