A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1
AN ACT PROVIDING THA T THE CITY OF JACKSO NVILLE SHALL EXERCIS E 2
PLANNING AND DEVELOP MENT AUTHORITY ONLY WITHIN THE CITY'S 3
CONTIGUOUS CORPORATE LIMITS. 4
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 5
SECTION 1.(a) Notwithstanding the provisions of G.S. 160D-202, or any other 6
provision of law, the City of Jacksonville shall not exercise any powers granted to cities in 7
Chapter 160D of the General Statutes in any area beyond its contiguous corporate limits. 8
SECTION 1.(b) The relinquishment of jurisdiction by the City of Jacksonville over 9
the area beyond its contiguous corporate limits shall become effective on the date this act 10
becomes law; provided, however, the City of Jacksonville's development regulations and powers 11
of enforcement shall remain in effect in that area until the time provided in G.S. 160D-202(h). 12
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law. 13
