A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1
AN ACT DESIGNATING T HE FIRST SUNDAY OF J UNE OF EACH YEAR AS 2
CHILDREN'S DAY IN NORTH CAROLINA. 3
Whereas, children represent the future and embody the hopes and aspirations of the 4
people of North Carolina; and 5
Whereas, investing in the health, education, and well -being of our children is 6
paramount to ensuring a prosperous and sustainable society; and 7
Whereas, recognizing the importance of nurturing and protecting our children 8
encourages communities, families, and organizations to collabo rate in creating safe and 9
supportive environments; and 10
Whereas, celebrating Children's Day provides an opportunity to acknowledge the 11
achievements and potential of all children, regardless of their background or circumstances; and 12
Whereas, such a day serves to raise awareness about the challenges and issues facing 13
children today, including access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunities for personal 14
growth; and 15
Whereas, the State of North Carolina is committed to promoting policies and 16
initiatives that support the development and well-being of its youngest residents; Now, therefore, 17
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 18
SECTION 1. Chapter 103 of the General Statutes is amended by adding a new 19
section to read: 20
"§ 103-19. Day of the child. 21
The first Sunday of June of each year is designated as Children's Day in North Carolina." 22
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law. 23
