AN ACT TO PROHIBIT T HE STATE BOARD OF ED UCATION FROM REQUIRI NG AN 2
OUT-OF-STATE APPLICA NT FOR A CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL TEACHIN G 3
LICENSE TO COMPLETE AN EXAMINATION AS A CONDITION OF LICENSURE. 4
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 5
SECTION 1. G.S. 115C-270.25 reads as rewritten: 6
"§ 115C-270.25. Out-of-state license applicants. 7
(a) The State Board of Education shall grant a CPL to an applicant who is a teacher 8
licensed in another state with substantially similar licensure requirements who and has at least 9
three years of teaching experience and is in good standing with the other state. 10
(b) The State Board of Education shall not require an out -of-state license applicant to 11
complete or have completed any type of standardized examination as a condition of receiving a 12
CPL pursuant to subsection (a) of this section." 13
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law and applies to out -of-state 14
license applications submitted on or after that date. 15
