A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1
AN ACT PROVIDING THAT CHOICE OF LAW AND FORUM SELECTION PROVISIONS 2
SHALL NOT APPLY TO GOVERNMENT CONTRACTS. 3
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 4
SECTION 1. G.S. 1G-2 reads as rewritten: 5
"§ 1G-2. Definitions. 6
The following definitions apply in this Chapter: 7
(1) Business contract. – A contract or undertaking, contingent or otherwise, 8
entered into primarily for business or commercial purposes. The term does not 9
include a consumer contract or an contract, employment contract.contract, or 10
government contract. 11

(4) Government contract. – A contract or undertaking, contingent or otherwise, to 13
which the State of North Carolina or a county, municipality, or other public 14
body of the State of North Carolina is a party." 15
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law and applies to contracts 16
entered into, renewed, or amended on or after that date. 17
