A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1
AN ACT AUTHORIZING T HE LEGISLATIVE RESEA RCH COMMISSION TO ST UDY 2
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE FOR STATE EMPLOYEES. 3
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 4
SECTION 1. The Legislative Research Commission (LRC) shall study the need for 5
bereavement leave for State employees. The LRC shall consider relevant data from the Office of 6
State Human Resources as part of its assessment. The LRC shall report its findings and any 7
legislative proposals to the 2026 Regular Session of the 2025 General Assembly. 8
SECTION 2. There is appropriated from the General Fund to the General Assembly 9
the sum of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) for the 2025 -2026 fiscal year to fund the study 10
mandated by this act. 11
SECTION 3. This act becomes effective July 1, 2025. 12
