Short Title: Official Fried Apple Pie Festival. (Public)

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1
AN ACT DESIGNATING S PARTA'S FRIED APPLE PIE FESTIVAL AS THE OFFICIAL 2
FRIED APPLE PIE FESTIVAL OF THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA. 3
Whereas, the Town of Sparta is home to the annual Fried Apple Pie Festival, which 4
is held at the Alleghany County Fairgrounds; and 5
Whereas, during the Festival, visitors are able to sample a variety of foods from food 6
trucks, listen to music performers, buy crafts from vendors, and enjoy a wide range of fun 7
activities suitable for the entire family; and 8
Whereas, the Festival holds a fried apple pie contest with awards given to first, 9
second, and third place winners as well as an award for the best fried apple pie chosen by those 10
in attendance; and 11
Whereas, the Fried Apple Pie Festival is a unique event held in t he State and should 12
be adopted as the official Fried Apple Pie Festival of the State of North Carolina; Now, therefore, 13
The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 14
SECTION 1. Chapter 145 of the General Statutes is amended by adding a new 15
section to read: 16
"§ 145-52. Official Fried Apple Pie Festival. 17
The Fried Apple Pie Festival, held the first Saturday in the month of May of every year in the 18
Town of Sparta, is adopted as the official Fried Apple Pie Festival of the State of North Carolina." 19
SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law. 20
