recognize the 250th anniversary of the United States Postal Service,
to express appreciation for its enduring service, and to support
continued efforts to ensure the long-term strength, efficiency, and
accessibility of the United States Postal Service.

IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO (THE
SENATE CONCURRING):

WHEREAS,
For 250 years, the United States Postal Service (USPS) has faithfully
connected communities across our nation by providing universal mail
service to every address in America, regardless of geography or
income; and

WHEREAS,
The USPS delivers vital goods and services—including prescriptions
to seniors and veterans, shipments for small businesses that drive
local economies, mail and supplies to farmers and rural families, and
dependable service to every corner of the nation, including areas
that private carriers often cannot efficiently reach; and

WHEREAS,
The USPS has long been one of the most trusted and respected public
institutions in the United States, providing reliable, affordable,
and secure service to households, businesses, and government agencies
alike; and

WHEREAS,
The men and women of the USPS embody a proud tradition of public
service—working in every kind of weather and circumstance to ensure
that mail and packages are delivered promptly and safely; and

WHEREAS,
The USPS plays an essential role in supporting commerce,
communication, public safety, and community life, helping businesses
thrive and ensuring that every American—no matter where they
live—remains connected to the broader nation; and

WHEREAS,
Maintaining a strong and stable Postal Service is vital to our
economy, our democracy, and our national security, as well as to the
well-being of countless families and small businesses that depend on
it; and

WHEREAS,
The year 2025 marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of the
United States Postal Service, an institution older than our nation
itself and rooted in the principles of service, reliability, and
connection that continue to define it today; now therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the 136th General Assembly of the State of
Ohio, in adopting this resolution, recognize the 250th anniversary of
the United States Postal Service and expresses appreciation for its
enduring service to the people of the United States; and be it
further

RESOLVED,
That we celebrate the essential role of the Postal Service in binding
our nation together and supporting commerce, communication, and
community life across all regions of the country; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That we affirm the Postal Service as a trusted and essential public
service that belongs to all Americans; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That we support continued efforts to ensure the long-term strength,
efficiency, and accessibility of the United States Postal Service for
generations to come; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit duly
authenticated copies of this resolution to the Postmaster General,
the President of the United States, the Speaker and Clerk of the
United States House of Representatives, the President Pro Tempore and
Secretary of the United States Senate, the members of the Ohio
Congressional delegation, and the news media of Ohio.
