urge the Congress of the United States to make the 2017 Tax Cuts and
Jobs Act permanent and protect prosperity.

BE
IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO (THE
SENATE CONCURRING):

WHEREAS,
The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) has provided significant tax
relief to individuals, families, and businesses across the United
States, including Ohio; and

WHEREAS,
The TCJA has led to increased economic growth, job creation, and
higher wages, benefiting the citizens and businesses of Ohio; and

WHEREAS,
The TCJA has simplified the tax code, making it easier for taxpayers
to understand and comply with their tax obligations; and

WHEREAS,
The TCJA has encouraged investment in the United States, leading to
greater economic prosperity and competitiveness on the global stage;
and

WHEREAS,
The temporary nature of certain provisions of the TCJA creates
uncertainty for taxpayers and businesses, potentially hindering
long-term planning and investment; and

WHEREAS,
The Federal Government should follow the lead of Ohio lawmakers who,
since 2017, have moved Ohio's income tax brackets from eight tax
brackets with a top marginal rate of 4.997% to only two brackets in
2024 with a top marginal rate of 3.50%; now therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the 136th Ohio General Assembly, urge the
Congress of the United States to make the provisions of the 2017 Tax
Cuts and Jobs Act permanent and protect prosperity; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit duly
authenticated copies of this resolution to the President of the
United States, the Speaker and Clerk of the United States House of
Representatives, the President Pro Tempore and Secretary of the
United States Senate, and to each member of the Senate and House of
Representatives representing this State.
