As Adopted by the House 136th General Assembly Regular Session H. R. No. 104 2025-2026 Representative Deeter A R E S O L U T I O N In memory of John Saunders. WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio were deeply saddened to learn of the death of John Saunders and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends; and WHEREAS, John Saunders left an indelible impression on the people whose lives he touched, and he will be remembered as a spirited individual who contributed immeasurably to the world around him. An employee of R & L Carriers of Norwalk, a member of the Central Ohio Truck Pulling Circuit, and a fifteen-year member of the Tri-Community Joint Fire Department, he was at the scene of a house fire on the night of April 16, 2025, when he tragically passed away in the line of duty; and WHEREAS, Giving generously of his energy and abilities, John Saunders displayed exceptional concern and insight and was tireless in his work to better the world around him. A loving father to his children, Kila and Kaden, and a devoted son, brother, and friend, he always used his talents to the benefit of those around him, and although the void his death has created can never be filled, the legacy of care and commitment he established will surely live on. His absence will be keenly felt; and WHEREAS, At a time when many people are content to take a passive role in life, firefighters often risk their own safety, and in fact their lives, to ensure the well-being of their fellow citizens. The devotion to duty that John Saunders showed in all of his endeavors earned him the genuine respect and gratitude of his colleagues and of the communities he so capably served. The world is a richer place for his having been in it, and he will be sorely missed; therefore be it RESOLVED, That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, express a profound sense of loss and sincere regret at the death of John Saunders and, in so doing, pay tribute to the memory of a truly unique individual; and be it further RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly authenticated copy of this Resolution to the family of John Saunders.
