A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
the Great Lakes Science Center on the Centennial of the
SS William
G. Mather
.

WHEREAS,
The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Great Lakes Science
Center on the One Hundredth Anniversary of the construction of the
SS
William G. Mather
, commemorated May 16, 2025; and

WHEREAS,
Recognition of this prestigious milestone is a fitting tribute to the
Great Lakes Science Center, for it has attained a remarkable record
of service to its patrons by preserving and celebrating the area’s
rich history, including that of the
SS William G. Mather
as
well as its namesake’s legacy of innovation and impact on
Cleveland’s manufacturing industry. Indeed, the science center has
nurtured the steamship into becoming a beloved part of the community,
and its many outstanding accomplishments are a justifiable source of
pride and an outstanding reflection not only on the organization but
also on the hard-working staff and volunteers; and

WHEREAS,
The Great Lakes Science Center has stood as a testament to the
community’s growth over the past century, and it has made sincere
investments in bringing to life the golden era of steamships and
Cleveland’s historical maritime significance through the restored
Great Lakes freighter, the
SS William G. Mather
. We are
certain that as this worthy institution maintains its unfaltering
dedication to service, it will continue in the tradition of
excellence that has become its hallmark and has enriched the lives of
its visitors; and

WHEREAS,
This special anniversary for the
SS William G. Mather
is an
important milestone that represents dedication and commitment. We
applaud the stewards of the Great Lakes Science Center for preserving
unique pieces that represent the community’s past, and salute them
for accepting the challenge of carrying this history into the future;
therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the
Great Lakes Science Center on the Centennial of the construction of
the
SS William G. Mather
and look to its future with optimism;
and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Great Lakes Science
Center.
