BE
IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

WHEREAS,
The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution protects the
individual right to keep and bear arms; and

WHEREAS,
With this right comes the responsibility to ensure that firearms are

WHEREAS,
Unintentional shootings, particularly those involving children, are a
tragic and preventable public health issue; and

WHEREAS,
Safe storage practices, such as using gun safes, lock boxes, and
trigger locks, and storing ammunition separately, can significantly
reduce the risk of unintentional shootings and firearm theft; and

WHEREAS,
Public education and awareness about the importance of safe firearm
storage are essential components in promoting responsible gun
ownership; now therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we urge all Ohioans who own firearms to take appropriate
measures to safely store and secure their firearms when not in use,
to prevent unauthorized access, and to protect the safety of all
citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That we encourage state and local agencies, community organizations,
and other stakeholders to promote public awareness and education on
the importance of safe firearm storage; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly
