R E S O L U T I O N

To
recognize the Nepali-Bhutanese refugee crisis.

BE
IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF OHIO:

WHEREAS,
Despite significant global efforts, over 7,000 Nepali-Bhutanese
refugees continue to languish in camps in Nepal; and

WHEREAS,
The Global People Alliance (GPA) work to promote peace and serve as
advocates for marginalized communities worldwide; and

WHEREAS,
GPA advocates for the permanent resettlement or repatriation options
for refugees still residing in camps in Eastern Nepal; and

WHEREAS,
GPA advocates to enable members of the Nepali-Bhutanese diaspora to
return to Bhutan to reconnect with family and loved ones; and

WHEREAS,
GPA advocates for the release of any individuals imprisoned
arbitrarily for political reasons; and

WHEREAS,
It is necessary to promote peace, prosperity, economic development,
and cultural connections for Nepali-Bhutanese community members
worldwide; and

WHEREAS,
It is crucial to emphasis the importance of political participation
and civic engagement with the Nepali-Bhutanese diaspora; now
therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Ohio House of Representatives of the
136th General Assembly, recognize the Nepali-Bhutanese refugee crisis
and support advocacy efforts to promote peace, prosperity, economic
development, and cultural connections for Nepali-Bhutanese community
members worldwide; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House transmit duly authenticated copies of
this resolution to the news media of Ohio.
