Recognizing
February 2026 as American Heart Month in Ohio.

WHEREAS,
The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize American Heart Month in
Ohio, February 2026; and

WHEREAS,
Designated by President Lyndon Johnson in 1964, American Heart Month
provides an annual time for individuals and organizations to remember
those lost to this disease, to raise awareness of warning signs, and
to formulate plans and policies to help meet the challenges of the
future. Heart disease is an endemic condition that afflicts countless
Americans, and with many Ohioans not having the necessary information
and tools needed to live heart-healthy lives, we hope that this
observation inspires change; and

WHEREAS,
Heart disease is a serious medical issue that is the leading cause of
death for men and women, regardless of ethnicity and race, and it
results in the death of hundreds of thousands of people in the United
States each year. In addition, multiple factors, including obesity,
physical activity, stress, sleep, and genetics, can contribute to its
development, and identifying early warning signs can be key to
survival; and

WHEREAS,
We can be proud of the medical advancements for treating
cardiovascular diseases as well as of greater awareness about its
threat, and it is through such efforts as American Heart Month in
Ohio and National Wear Red Day that we can improve those odds even
further. Indeed, the many professionals and local advocacy groups
that have dedicated themselves to promoting educational initiatives
are certainly deserving of high praise; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, recognize
American Heart Month in Ohio, February 2026, and urge all citizens to
become well-informed on the risk factors associated with heart
disease; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit duly
authenticated copies of this Resolution to the news media of Ohio.
