A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
the City of Parma on its Two Hundredth Anniversary.

WHEREAS,
The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize the City of Parma on the
jubilant occasion of its Bicentennial; and

WHEREAS,
The Ohioans who proudly call themselves residents of Parma will have
the opportunity on this milestone to celebrate the community’s 1826
founding and 1931 incorporation as a city. Indeed, they have embraced
growth, change, and the promise of a bright future, while never
relinquishing their appreciation for the worthiest virtues of the
past. Without sacrificing their sense of tradition in the name of
progress, the city’s inhabitants have nurtured a vision for
community spirit and lasting prosperity; and

WHEREAS,
Established as a small agricultural settlement and growing into the
seventh largest city in Ohio, Parma serves as a cornerstone community
in Cuyahoga County, demonstrating the strength, diversity, and
vitality of one of the state’s most prominent municipalities.
Indeed, it has become known for its unique parks, neighborhoods,
cultural institutions, faith groups, and local traditions, which have
contributed to a high quality of life and have fostered a strong
sense of hometown pride, and we are confident that, in the years to
come, it will continue to invest in revitalization, infrastructure,
public safety, and economic development so as to position itself for
long-term success; and

WHEREAS,
Parma’s educators, first responders, healthcare workers, veterans,
laborers, entrepreneurs, and volunteers have played a vital role in
strengthening the social and economic fabric of the community.
Throughout its history, its residents have consistently demonstrated
resilience, neighborliness, and a commitment to public service,
thereby shaping a city grounded in hard work, opportunity, and mutual
respect; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to
the City of Parma as it commemorates its Two Hundredth Anniversary
and offer our best wishes for its perennial good fortune; and be it
further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the City of Parma.
