A R E S O L U T I O N

Recognizing
Ohio Child Abuse Prevention Month, April 2026.

WHEREAS,
The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize April 2026 as Ohio Child
Abuse Prevention Month; and

WHEREAS,
Preventing child abuse and neglect is critical for the long-term
well-being of our state and nation, for harm inflicted upon those who
are young and vulnerable has lasting repercussions, not only for
victims and their families but also for our society as a whole. We
must unite to help actualize a brighter future for successive
generations by promoting the effective development of our youth; and

WHEREAS,
Statistics show that the number of children who are abused and
neglected in Ohio and across the country continues to rise. In order
to prevent the increase of this crime in the future, it is necessary
for all concerned citizens to join not only in educating the general
public, including potential offenders, about the effects of this
injustice but also in developing a general consciousness regarding
its far-reaching devastation; and

WHEREAS,
Child abuse and neglect is a community problem, and finding the key
to ending it depends on the cooperation and involvement of government
leaders, members of the public, educators, and faith-based and civic
organizations. It is vital that we all join forces to avoid the
occurrence and reoccurrence of this preventable crime, for we must
hold sacred the trust of our children who represent Ohio’s most
valuable resource; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, recognize
April 2026 as Ohio Child Abuse Prevention Month and urge all citizens
to observe this time with appropriate programs and activities; and be
it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit duly
authenticated copies of this Resolution to the Ohio Children’s
Trust Fund and the news media of Ohio.
