A R E S O L U T I O N
Recognizing
Ohio Agriculture Week, March 9-15, 2025.
WHEREAS,
The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize March 9-15, 2025, as Ohio
Agriculture Week; and
WHEREAS,
Agriculture is the largest industry in the State of Ohio.
Encompassing 13 million acres, Ohio’s 76,500 farms, 95 percent of
which are family-owned, raise more than 200 types of crops and
livestock, providing families with food, fuel, and fiber, and the
food and agriculture industry contributes $124 billion to the state
economy each year, employing one in eight of our citizens in areas
from tending fields to serving in restaurants. In addition, more than
1,000 food processing companies add to the economy; and
WHEREAS,
In 2011, the Ohio General Assembly designated the second full week in
March each year as Ohio Agriculture Week to publicly recognize the
vitally important role that agriculture plays both in our state and
across the country. This year’s observance is March 9-15, and it is
fitting that this event be promoted and celebrated by communities
across Ohio; and
WHEREAS,
At a time of increasing urbanization, when many are forced to rely on
the services of a few to survive, farmers have shouldered the
responsibility of feeding the world’s population with competence
and efficiency. During Ohio Agriculture Week, Ohioans are encouraged
to appreciate the year-round efforts of farmers and all those
involved in the food and agribusiness industries. It is truly
encouraging to note that the future of Ohio agriculture is in such
capable hands; therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, recognize
March 9-15, 2025, as Ohio Agriculture Week; and be it further
RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit duly
authenticated copies of this Resolution to the news media of Ohio.
