A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
Katy Zang as a 2026 New Balance Nationals Indoor Track and Field
Champion.

WHEREAS,
The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to extend special recognition to Katy
Zang on winning 2026 New Balance Nationals Indoor Track and Field
championships in the 1- and 2-mile runs; and

WHEREAS,
A senior member of the Teays Valley High School track and field team,
Katy Zang has combined talent and competitive spirit with the highest
ideals of good sportsmanship to establish herself as a truly
exceptional athlete. With admirable dedication, she has worked
diligently toward attaining ultimate proficiency in track and field,
and as a result, she won first place in the 3,200-meter run with a
state-record time of 9:42.84, eclipsing the previous mark by an
amazing 25 seconds, at this year’s Ohio High School Division I
State Meet and in the 1- and 2-mile runs, with meet-record times of
4:35.02 and 9:37.15 respectively, at the New Balance Nationals; and

WHEREAS,
Katy Zang’s accomplishments and leadership, both in and out of
competition, are a justifiable source of pride and an outstanding
reflection not only on her but also on her family, her teammates, her
coach, Zach Frank, her school, and her community. Her unwavering
commitment to excellence has earned her the respect and esteem of
many, and she is certainly worthy of applause; and

WHEREAS,
With athletic competition playing such an important role in the total
education of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay
tribute to Katy Zang on an exemplary season. Indeed, the same
maturity and experience she has gained through her participation in
track and field will greatly aid her in meeting the challenges of the
future; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate
Katy Zang on her remarkable season and offer best wishes for ongoing
success; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Katy Zang.
