A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
Thomas Lathrop as a 2026 OHSAA Division II State Champion in
swimming.

WHEREAS,
The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate Thomas Lathrop on
placing first in the 500-yard freestyle at the 2026 Ohio High School
Athletic Association Division II Swimming and Diving Championship
Meet; and

WHEREAS,
A remarkable athlete, Thomas Lathrop has combined talent and
competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to
establish himself as a standout member of the Ottawa Hills High
School boys swimming team. With admirable dedication, he has worked
diligently toward attaining ultimate proficiency in his sport, and as
a result, he won first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of
4:33.46 and second place in the 200-yard individual medley with a
time of 1:51.31 at this year’s Division II State Championship Meet;
and

WHEREAS,
Thomas Lathrop is a truly exceptional swimmer, and his
accomplishments and leadership, both in and out of competition, are a
justifiable source of pride and a fine reflection not only on him but
also on his family, his teammates, his coach, Emma Halpin, his
school, and his community. His unwavering commitment to excellence
has earned him the respect and esteem of many, and he is certainly
worthy of recognition; and

WHEREAS,
With athletic competition playing such an important role in the total
education of our young people, we are incredibly proud to applaud
Thomas Lathrop on an exemplary season. Indeed, the same maturity and
experience he has gained through his participation in swimming will
greatly aid him in meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be
it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Thomas
Lathrop on his personal success and salute him as one of Ohio’s
finest young citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Thomas Lathrop.
