A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
the Miami University men’s basketball team as the 2026 Mid-American
Conference regular-season champion.

WHEREAS,
The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to congratulate the Miami University
men's basketball team on winning the 2026 Mid-American Conference
regular-season championship; and

WHEREAS,
A remarkable group of young athletes, the members of the Miami
University men's basketball team have combined talent and spirit with
the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish themselves as
truly exceptional competitors. With admirable dedication, the
RedHawks have worked diligently toward attaining ultimate proficiency
in basketball, and as a result, they compiled perfect 18-0
Mid-American Conference and 31-0 overall regular-season records,
qualified for the prestigious NCAA Tournament, and finished the
season with an impressive 32-2 record; and

WHEREAS,
The RedHawks' achievements and leadership are a justifiable source of
pride and an excellent reflection on the players, their families,
their school, the Miami community, and their coaches. In leading
their team to victory, Coach Travis Steele and his assistants have
not only helped the athletes to develop their talents to the fullest
but have also instilled in them a valuable sense of determination,
perseverance, and camaraderie; and

WHEREAS,
With athletic competition playing such an important role in the total
education of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay
tribute to these exemplary athletes and their outstanding coaches for
a job well done. The maturity and experience the team members have
gained through their participation in sports will greatly aid them in
meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the
Miami University men's basketball team on its tremendous season and
salute the members and coaches as fine citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly
authenticated copy of this Resolution to the Miami University men's
basketball team.
