Recognizing
National Vietnam War Veterans Day, March 29, 2025.

WHEREAS,
The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize March 29, 2025, as National
Vietnam War Veterans Day; and

WHEREAS,
The United States was involved in the Vietnam War for a period of
twenty years, and during that time, more than 8,744,000 Americans
served in the armed forces, including more than 58,000 who were
killed, more than 300,000 who were wounded, and approximately 600 who
were held as prisoners of war. On March 30, 1973, U.S. combat troops
were officially withdrawn from Vietnam, and in 2017, March 29 was
designated National Vietnam War Veterans Day to honor of those who
fought, died, or are still unaccounted for as a result of the Vietnam
War; and

WHEREAS,
This year marks fifty-two years after the end of America’s role in
the Vietnam War, and the 2025 National Vietnam War Veterans Day
underscores the importance of this period of history for all
Americans. It is especially important to commemorate the service men
and women who valiantly served our nation’s ideals and interests;
and

WHEREAS,
It is imperative that we openly acknowledge our debt to those who
bore our country’s standard with courage, dignity, and decency
through their military service. It is, indeed, fitting that National
Vietnam War Veterans Day be observed to honor the selfless and
courageous members of the U.S. Armed Forces who demonstrated a
commendable adherence to the noble principles of democracy and love
of country through their outstanding military and community service
during the Vietnam War; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, recognize
March 29, 2025, as National Vietnam War Veterans Day; and be it
further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit duly
authenticated copies of this Resolution to the news media of Ohio.
