A R E S O L U T I O N
Honoring
Marcus Johnson as Ohio’s Mr. Basketball for 2025.
WHEREAS,
The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to commend Marcus Johnson on being
selected as the 2025 Ohio Mr. Basketball by the Ohio Prep Sports
Media Association; and
WHEREAS,
A diligent and capable individual, Marcus Johnson is deserving of
recognition for his exemplary accomplishments as a junior member of
the Garfield Heights High School boys basketball team. An exceptional
athlete, he averaged 29.7 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, 4.7
assists, and 2.2 steals this season and helped the Bulldogs advance
to the Division III State semifinals this season, and his noteworthy
record of personal achievement stands as a hallmark for others; and
WHEREAS,
Through his participation in basketball, Marcus Johnson has learned
important lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and good
sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to him
throughout his life. Through his outstanding efforts, he has inspired
countless people to excel in various areas of endeavor, and he has
set an example worthy of emulation; and
WHEREAS,
In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and
nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of
individual and group effort, athletic competition has become a
valuable educational tool. With sports contributing to the
development of countless youth, we are happy to congratulate such a
fine athlete as Marcus Johnson; therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Marcus
Johnson on his statewide honor and extend best wishes for continued
success; and be it further
RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Marcus Johnson.
