A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
Jesse Mendez as the 2025 NCAA Division I Wrestling Champion in the
141-pound weight class.

WHEREAS,
The members of the House of Representatives of the 136th General
Assembly of Ohio are pleased to recognize Jesse Mendez on securing
the 2025 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I
Wrestling Championship in the 141-pound weight class; and

WHEREAS,
Displaying exceptional form, ability, leadership, and dedication
during the 2024-25 season, Jesse Mendez has certainly distinguished
himself as one of the most talented wrestlers in the country. After
winning a national championship last year, he defeated a tough
opponent from the University of Nebraska this year by a score of 12-9
in the 141-pound weight class to earn his second consecutive national
title; and

WHEREAS,
Throughout intense training and preparation, Jesse Mendez has
consistently demonstrated the talent, integrity, and motivation that
are the hallmarks of a true champion. To his credit, he could always
be counted on not only to shine individually but also to contribute
significantly to his teammates’ collective effort; and

WHEREAS,
A junior at The Ohio State University, Jesse Mendez is truly worthy
of acknowledgement for the formidable athletic gifts and the
competitive spirit that he has so amply revealed throughout this past
season. He has inspired his teammates, thrilled his fans, gained the
respect of his opponents, and made his coaches and family very proud;
therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the House of Representatives of the 136th
General Assembly of Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate
Jesse Mendez on his impressive wrestling accomplishment and salute
him as a fine young athlete; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a duly
authenticated copy of this Resolution to Jesse Mendez.
