Jobs Act permanent and protect prosperity.
BE
IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF OHIO (THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING):
WHEREAS,
The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) has provided significant tax
relief to individuals, families, and businesses across the United
States, including Ohio; and
WHEREAS,
The TCJA has led to increased economic growth, job creation, and
higher wages, benefiting the citizens and businesses of Ohio; and
WHEREAS,
The TCJA has simplified the tax code, making it easier for taxpayers
to understand and comply with their tax obligations; and
WHEREAS,
The TCJA has encouraged investment in the United States, leading to
greater economic prosperity and competitiveness on the global stage;
and
WHEREAS,
The temporary nature of certain provisions of the TCJA creates
uncertainty for taxpayers and businesses, potentially hindering
long-term planning and investment; and
WHEREAS,
The Federal Government should follow the lead of Ohio lawmakers who,
since 2017, have moved Ohio's income tax brackets from eight tax
brackets with a top marginal rate of 4.997% to only two brackets in
2024 with a top marginal rate of 3.50%; now therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the 136th Ohio General Assembly, urge the
Congress of the United States to make the provisions of the 2017 Tax
Cuts and Jobs Act permanent and protect prosperity; and be it further
RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit duly authenticated copies of
this resolution to the President of the United States, the Speaker
and Clerk of the United States House of Representatives, the
President Pro Tempore and Secretary of the United States Senate, and
to each member of the Senate and House of Representatives
representing this State.
