A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
the Cardington Volunteer Fire Department on its One Hundred Fiftieth
Anniversary.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to pay tribute to the Cardington Volunteer Fire Department on
the One Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary of its founding; and

WHEREAS,
Recognition of this event is a fitting tribute to the Cardington
Volunteer Fire Department, for since its inception, this praiseworthy
organization has achieved an admirable record of service to the
community. Established in 1874, the agency has been a vital
instrument for local safety, responding to even the most challenging
of emergencies with speed and professionalism, and its commitment to
excellence has been clearly visible in all of its endeavors; and

WHEREAS,
Over the past century and a half, the Cardington Volunteer Fire
Department has witnessed many changes in the field of emergency
services, and it has worked diligently to keep pace with these
challenges. Indeed, the agency’s achievements are a justifiable
source of pride and an outstanding reflection not only on the
department itself but also on its current chief, Gary Goodman, and
his predecessors, on its dedicated firefighters, and on the entire
community; and

WHEREAS,
While many people are content to take a passive role in life, the
members of the Cardington Volunteer Fire Department have often risked
their own safety to ensure the well-being of their fellow citizens,
and the enthusiasm and devotion to duty that they have shown have
earned them the gratitude and respect of the community they have so
capably served. We are certain that as they maintain their dedication
to service, these individuals will continue in the tradition of
excellence which has long been the department’s hallmark; therefore
be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the Cardington
Volunteer Fire Department on the auspicious occasion of its One
Hundred Fiftieth Anniversary and salute its members as some of Ohio’s
finest citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to the Cardington Volunteer Fire Department.
