A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
Owen Scott as a 2025 Division II State Champion in track and field.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to congratulate Owen Scott on winning the 1600-meter run at
the 2025 Division II State Track and Field Meet; and

WHEREAS,
A senior at Van Wert High School, Owen Scott has combined talent and
competitive spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to
establish himself as a truly exceptional athlete. A strong
competitor, he has worked diligently toward attaining ultimate
proficiency in his events, and as a result, he placed first in the
1600-meter run with a time of 4:10.19 at this year’s Division II
State Meet, breaking his own school record by two seconds, and placed
eighth in the 3200‑meter run with a time of 9:23.34; and

WHEREAS,
Throughout intense training and preparation, Owen Scott has
consistently demonstrated the talent, integrity, and motivation that
are the hallmarks of a true champion. His unwavering commitment to
excellence has earned him the respect and esteem of many, and he is
certainly deserving of high praise; and

WHEREAS,
Owen Scott’s accomplishments and leadership, both in and out of
competition, are a justifiable source of pride and an outstanding
reflection not only on him but also on his family, his teammates, his
coaches, his school, and his community. Indeed, the same maturity and
experience he has gained through his participation in track and field
will greatly aid him in meeting the challenges of the future;
therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Owen Scott on his personal
success and salute him as one of Ohio’s finest young citizens; and
be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to Owen Scott.
