A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
the City of Akron on its Two Hundredth Anniversary.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to pay tribute to the City of Akron on its Bicentennial; and

WHEREAS,
Over the past two hundred years, the city has experienced dramatic
growth and change, and yet, commendably, it still radiates vitality,
optimism, and a charm all its own. Since its establishment in 1825,
Akron has adapted to meet each new challenge, and clearly, the
community’s outstanding schools, remarkable businesses, and astute
civic organizations both embody and thrive upon the values of which
our flag is an emblem; and

WHEREAS,
Even as they have exuberantly embraced the promise of a bright
future, the residents of Akron have never relinquished their
appreciation for the worthiest virtues of the past. Indeed, they have
managed to nurture a fresh perspective and a positive outlook that
continue to endear this distinctive city to all who know it well; and

WHEREAS,
Every state depends upon such vibrant, durable communities as Akron
for its own survival and stability. Although having known adversity
and tribulation, it also has been favored with its share of
blessings, and in the years to come, the municipality is sure to
remain on its admirable course and to continue to transform
challenges into opportunities; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the City of Akron as
it commemorates its Two Hundredth Anniversary and offer our best
wishes for its perennial good fortune; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to the City of Akron.
