WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends
of Jack Cera on the sorrowful occasion of his death; and
WHEREAS,
Jack Cera left an indelible impression on the people whose lives he
touched, and he will be remembered as a spirited individual who
contributed immeasurably to the world around him. A member of the
Ohio House of Representatives from 1983 to 1996 and from 2011 to
2020, he served on numerous standing, select, and special committees
and in leadership as the Minority Whip in 2016, and he also worked as
the workforce development director for the Belmont County Department
of Job and Family Services, a member of the Jefferson Belmont
Regional Solid Waste Authority, and the senior vice president of
Sunday Creek Horizons. In addition, he volunteered with such
organizations as the Belmont County Port Authority Board and Planning
Commission, the Bellaire Public Library and Park District boards, and
the Bellaire and East Ohio girls softball associations, and he
received numerous honors and awards for his myriad contributions.
Indeed, he will be remembered for his generosity, talents, sense of
humor, quick wit, and seemingly inexhaustible energy; and
WHEREAS,
Jack Cera’s regard for improving the quality of life in our society
was clearly evident in his personal sacrifices of time and effort to
his family, friends, and community. Giving generously of his energy
and abilities in all of his endeavors, he displayed exceptional
concern and insight, and his absence will be keenly felt; and
WHEREAS,
A loving husband to his wife, Becky, a devoted father to his two
daughters, Jaclyn and Bethany, and a doting grandfather to his three
granddaughters, Scarlett, Lena, and Finley, Jack Cera always used his
talents to the benefit of others, and the warmth and understanding he
readily extended to those around him will stand as a testament to his
personal character and ethical center. Although the void which his
death has created can never be filled, the legacy of care and
commitment he established will surely live on; therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to the memory of a
truly honorable man, Jack Cera; and be it further

That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to the family of Jack Cera.
