A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
the Barnesville State Theater on its Centennial.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to congratulate the Barnesville State Theater on the
auspicious occasion of its One Hundredth Anniversary; and

WHEREAS,
Recognition of this prestigious milestone is a fitting tribute to the
Barnesville State Theater, for it has become a beloved local landmark
and an outstanding symbol of community pride. Established in 1925,
the theater gained the appreciation of countless audiences before
falling into disuse, and in 2022, a campaign was launched by local
residents and volunteers to revive the structure and restore it as a
multi-use venue for music, performances, and the advancement of the
arts; and

WHEREAS,
The spirit of our nation is founded upon, and reflected in, its
exciting and colorful past, and the memorializing of significant
buildings, such as the Barnesville State Theater, is vital to the
preservation of America’s unique heritage. Indeed, the One
Hundredth Anniversary of this remarkable edifice is an outstanding
reflection not only on the structure itself but also on the numerous
community members and stakeholders who have contributed to its
preservation; and

WHEREAS,
All those associated with the Barnesville State Theater have
distinguished themselves as concerned and responsible citizens. With
admirable dedication, they have helped to ensure that the important
details of our past are transmitted to future generations for their
appreciation, and we salute them for their work to sustain the
history of the area; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Barnesville State
Theater on its One Hundredth Anniversary and extend best wishes for
the future; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to the Barnesville State Theater.
