The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to congratulate the Ohio University Heritage College of
Osteopathic Medicine on the auspicious occasion of its Fiftieth

Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, for since
it was created when House Bill 229 was signed into law in 1975, it
has played a valuable role in preparing numerous medical students to
meet the challenges of the future. During its half century of
existence as Ohio’s only osteopathic medical school, OU HCOM
has opened additional campuses in Dublin and Cleveland, expanded its
Community Health Programs into more than twenty counties, and
graduated more than five thousand physicians, sixty percent of whom
have stayed in our state to practice, and it has become Ohio’s
largest producer of primary care physicians. The school’s
accomplishments have gained it the appreciation and esteem of many;
and

WHEREAS,
Colleges of medicine serve as pillars of progress in advancing
health, research, and compassionate care for the betterment of
society, and we are confident that in the years to come, the Ohio
University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine will continue its
steadfast commitment to cultivating skilled, empathetic, and
community-focused osteopathic physicians; and

WHEREAS,
Education is vital to our nation’s continued economic and social
well-being, and as the need for global learning and understanding
increases, so do the demands placed upon our system of education. The
Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine has
consistently and effectively met these challenges, and the school is
truly deserving of high praise; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Ohio University
Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine on its Fiftieth Anniversary
and extend best wishes for ongoing success; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to the Ohio University Heritage College of
Osteopathic Medicine.
