A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
the Avon High School football team as the 2025 Division II State
Champion.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to congratulate the Avon High School football team on winning
the 2025 Division II State Championship; and

WHEREAS,
A remarkable group of young athletes, the members of the Avon High
School football team have combined talent and spirit with the highest
ideals of good sportsmanship to establish themselves as truly
exceptional competitors. With admirable dedication, the Eagles have
worked diligently toward attaining ultimate proficiency in football,
and as a result, they defeated a tough Anderson team by the score of
37-20 to win this year’s Division II State Championship, their
second consecutive such title, and finished the season with an
impressive 14‑1 record; and

WHEREAS,
The Eagles’ achievements and leadership are a justifiable source of
pride and an excellent reflection on the players, their families,
their school, their community, and their head coach, Mike Elder. In
leading their team to victory, Coach Elder and his assistants have
not only helped the athletes to develop their talents to the fullest
but also instilled in them a valuable sense of determination,
perseverance, and camaraderie; and

WHEREAS,
With athletic competition playing such an important role in the total
education of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay
tribute to these exemplary athletes and their outstanding coaches for
a job well done. The maturity and experience the team members have
gained through their participation in sports will greatly aid them in
meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Avon High School
football team on its tremendous season and salute the members and
coaches as some of Ohio’s finest citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to the Avon High School football team.
