A R E S O L U T I O N
Honoring
Shelby First United Methodist Church on its Two Hundredth
Anniversary.
WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to pay tribute to Shelby First United Methodist Church on the
memorable occasion of its Bicentennial; and
WHEREAS,
For the past two hundred years, Shelby First United Methodist Church
has served as a tremendous source of spiritual inspiration, and it
has encouraged countless individuals to pursue lives of worship,
service, learning, and fellowship. The impact this fine institution
has had on the Shelby community is impossible to quantify, and its
contributions to society are truly outstanding; and
WHEREAS,
This auspicious celebration offers the members of Shelby First United
Methodist Church the opportunity to share their memories and to
reflect on the benefits of life in their close-knit community. The
parishioners can be proud that their remarkable example has ensured
that the best traditions of the past will shape a future of
benevolence and prosperity; and
WHEREAS,
Listed on the Ohio Historic Inventory and named a local landmark,
Shelby First United Methodist Church has stood strong in the face of
challenges and has had a positive effect on both the community and
the world. This important milestone reflects what can be accomplished
by those who project their values and devotion through their faith,
and we look with optimism as the church upholds its rich legacy in
the years to come; therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Shelby First United
Methodist Church on its Bicentennial and salute everyone who has
contributed to the longevity of this House of God; and be it further
RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to Shelby First United Methodist Church.
