A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland on its One Hundred Seventy-fifth
Anniversary.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to congratulate the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland on its One
Hundred Seventy-fifth Anniversary; and

WHEREAS,
Recognition of this prestigious milestone is fitting tribute to the
Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland, for throughout the past one hundred
seventy-five years, it has attained a praiseworthy record of service
to the Catholic Church and the Diocese of Cleveland. In 1850, four
nuns of the order left France and ultimately arrived in Cleveland to
serve the local Catholic schools, opening Ursuline Academy just three
weeks after reaching their destination, and the group has continued
to assist various underserved populations ever since; and

WHEREAS,
As the source of many healthcare, education, and social services, the
Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland has been involved with numerous
outreach ministries to better life for innumerable people. Indeed,
its successes are a justifiable source of pride and an excellent
reflection on its devoted leaders and members and on the entire
community; and

WHEREAS,
All those associated with the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland are to be
commended for their foresight, dedication, and selfless donations of
time, energy, and ability far beyond what was required or expected.
These fine sisters have earned the respect and admiration of many,
and their altruistic efforts and commitment to helping the less
fortunate are sure to inspire others to devote themselves similarly;
therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Ursuline Sisters of
Cleveland on its One Hundred Seventy-fifth Anniversary and extend
best wishes for perennial good fortune; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland.
