as the Lorain Public Library Association to provide a free local

collections to county schools, churches, stores, and other locations,
and today, it has six branches and a little library on the beach in
Lakeview Park; and

Since its inception, the Lorain Public Library System has fostered
education, culture, and individual growth and achievement by
providing a variety of innovative and beneficial programs and

instrument for community improvement, the institution has earned the
respect and appreciation of countless patrons and has set an example
of excellence that is worthy of emulation; and

WHEREAS,
Public libraries play an important role in today’s society, serving
as receptacles of shared knowledge, information, and ideas. They
provide a means of enjoyment, self-advancement, and intellectual
development for all individuals, and as repositories for the best of
our nation’s intellectual endeavors, they are vital to the
preservation of our country’s heritage, principles, and ideals. We
are proud to note that it is through the efforts of entities such as
the Lorain Public Library System that our state has maintained its
reputation as a friendly, productive, and pleasant place in which to
live and work; therefore be it

That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Lorain Public Library
