A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
Zach Werenski as a member of the gold medal winning Team USA men’s
hockey team.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to congratulate Zach Werenski as a gold medalist at the 2026
Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games; and

WHEREAS,
Zach Werenski is, indeed, deserving of high praise, for through his
tremendous achievements, he has distinguished himself as a truly
outstanding individual. A defenseman for the Columbus Blue Jackets
and Team USA, he has combined natural talent with concentration and
perseverance to establish himself as one of the finest ice hockey
players in the State of Ohio, and we applaud him on helping Team USA
secure the Olympic gold medal for the first time in forty-six years;
and

WHEREAS,
Zach Werenski has exemplified all of the characteristics which are
essential for success both in and out of the sports world, including
courage, discipline, integrity, and an innate sense of the principles
of good sportsmanship. Through his unwavering commitment to
excellence, he has established himself as a true champion; and

WHEREAS,
With athletic competition playing such an important role in the
culture and history of our nation, we are extremely pleased to pay
tribute to Zach Werenski not only for his exceptional performance at
the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games but also for carrying
our nation’s standard with grace and dignity. Indeed, he has proven
himself as a remarkable athlete and a fantastic patriot, and we are
proud to call him an Ohioan; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Zach Werenski as an
Olympic gold medalist and salute him as an exemplary individual; and
be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to Zach Werenski.
