A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
the Southview Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball team as the
2026 State Champion.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to congratulate the Southview Middle School eighth-grade boys
basketball team on winning the 2026 State Championship; and

WHEREAS,
A remarkable group of young athletes, the members of the Southview
Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball team have combined talent
and spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish
themselves as truly exceptional competitors. With admirable
dedication, members Antonio Kimbrough, Lovell Morris, John Payne,
Blake Wagner, Josiah Solomon, Mario Jones, Jamil Rodriguez, Noah
Benjamin, Joniel Centeno, Jaden McIntosh, and Josiah Echols have
worked diligently toward attaining ultimate proficiency in
basketball, and as a result, they won this year’s Greater Cleveland
Conference and State championships and finished the season with a
perfect 16-0 record; and

WHEREAS,
The achievements and leadership of the Southview Middle School
eighth-grade boys basketball team are a justifiable source of pride
and an excellent reflection on the players, their families, their
school, their community, and their coaches. In leading their team to
victory, Head Coach Doug Taylor and Assistant Coach Aaron Frazier
have not only helped the athletes to develop their talents to the
fullest but have also instilled in them a valuable sense of
determination, perseverance, and camaraderie; and

WHEREAS,
With athletic competition playing such an important role in the total
education of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay
tribute to these exemplary athletes and their outstanding coaches for
a job well done. The maturity and experience the team members have
gained through their participation in sports will greatly aid them in
meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Southview Middle
School eighth-grade boys basketball team on its tremendous season and
salute the members and coaches as some of Ohio’s finest citizens;
and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to the Southview Middle School eighth-grade boys
basketball team.
